Our tourism industry is under extreme pressure right now, that we hope will be a temporary blip, but as we wait for the tourism to rebound we would like to continue to generate a conversation with hospitality vendors about our amazing and pristine NWT waters.
We would like to provide visitors to NWT, with knowledge that our tap-water is of excellent quality, and we are very proud of that fact. We are asking hotels, B&B's and other hospitality service providers to encourage tourists to drink local NWT tapwater, as an alternative to bottled water. We believe that simply providing this information in our hotel rooms and lobbies will encourage a reduction in waste, and a benefit to tourists and tourism in the NWT.
By signing the #loveNWTwater pledge participants, schools, businesses and other organizations across the territory commit to providing NWT drinking water and to phasing out single use plastic bottles in their buildings, during meetings, catered events, and through any of their public or private functions. We are so fortunate to have such healthy ecosystems, and excellent water treatment facilities that we should celebrate this fact with all our visitors, this small step will make a big difference.
The Hospitality Pledge - Our business will promote local NWT tap-water to tourists, through the use of #loveNWTwater branded materials.
For every business who signs on to the hospitality pledge, Ecology North will provide posters (for lobby) and placards (for each room). We will also provide a shout out on our social media and include you in our newsletter as a #loveNWTwater supporter
We acknowledge that this hospitality pledge does not sign this establishment up to not sell or provide bottled water. We heartily encourage signing up to the organizational pledge as well.
